Attention pizza lovers! Domino’s is partnering with Youthline to raise ‘dough’ for youth mental health
This Thursday, 23 May 2024, Domino’s is set to raise ‘dough’ for Youthline, New Zealand’s leading “with youth, for youth” mental health and development organisation, with $1 from every pizza sold between 4pm-9pm donated directly to the charity.
For almost a decade, Domino’s has been raising dough for Youthline through its annual national Doughraiser, which has seen $245,000 donated so far.
The pizza company’s last Doughraiser for Youthline raised $37,627 of much-needed funds. This year, Domino’s is hoping to set a new fundraising record by raising more than $40,000 in one night across 155 stores nationwide.
These funds directly support Youthline’s free 24/7 Helpline, ensuring rangatahi have access to mental health and wellbeing support at any time of the day or night.
Notably, in the past three years, Helpline incidents rose by 65.5%, with suicide risk texts increasing from 1 in 5 texts to 1 in 3. By reaching the $40,000 goal, Domino’s is aiming to help Youthline support a range of services including:
· Enabling 1517 text messages sent through the Helpline, and
· The training of 25 new Helpline counsellors.
This year’s Doughraiser also marks the first year that Youthline is an official partner of Domino’s registered charity, Minds & Meals! The partnership will see the charity contribute $150,000 over three years to help thousands of 12–24-year-olds across New Zealand access vital support.
Domino’s New Zealand General Manager Ross Kruger said that with this partnership, there has never been a better time to support youth mental health.
“Our longstanding partnership with Youthline is incredibly important to us as we continue to support our local communities,” said Mr Kruger.
“The Doughraiser on Thursday is a great way for Kiwis around the country to support an important cause, all by simply enjoying a slice of their favourite pizza!”
The best part? This national Doughraiser is in addition to the incredible support Minds & Meals provides, meaning Youthline will receive even more resources to help them achieve their mission. Since 2016, Domino’s has raised $570,000 for Youthline across this partnership and the annual Doughraiser.
Youthline Chief Executive Officer Shae Ronald said donations and support from organisations like Domino’s are essential to Youthline’s services.
“Our partnership with Domino’s enables us to continue our commitment of providing young people with the resources and support they need to navigate and overcome mental health challenges,” says Ms Ronald.
“This support helps us to engage with the more than 260,000 Helpline contacts and 15,000 young people we support every single year.
“Domino’s is helping us to close the gap in the funds we need to continue to provide our national Helpline Services free to all young people and their families, around the country.”
As well as donating $1 from each pizza this Thursday, all ‘Round Up for Charity’ donations through the Domino’s online ordering platform will be donated directly to Youthline.
The Youthline Doughraiser will be held this Thursday 23 May. $1 from each pizza sold between the hours of 4pm-9pm will be donated to Youthline. To donate directly, visit https://www.youthline.co.nz/donate.html.
